Crooked little vein - Warren Ellis

Very disturbing book...just the way we likem.

It follows the search of a down and out PI as he searches for a mysterious book that will save America from depravity. Of course he has to have a hottie who falls in love with him and accompanies him on his trek.

Ellis seemed to sit down and think of 5 or 6 different heinous scenarios and string them together for our pleasure and discomfort. Loses its way about 75% of the way through and recovers towards the end.

Well worth a quick read.

Grand Hyatt Kauai

http://kauai.hyatt.com/

Cannot say enough about this hotel, the staff and the location...simply fantastic.

We had beach view rooms, they were clean, spacious and quiet. Great to sleep with the door open with the sound of the waves in the background.

The food on is very good, but very expensive. Dondero's the Italian restaurant i would rate the highest, it also has a suitable kids menu. Ask for a table outside for the best ambiance. Tidepools food again was very tasty, ask for a table on the right hand side next to the window and you get a great view of the Koi pond. Accidentally throw some bread in the water and you will see a teaming mass of fish! Poipu Bay Bar & Grill is an OK, serves chinese dishes family style but i would recommend going off site before eating there. Yum Cha in the Library has some nice Sushi as a light snack and live music.

Breakfast is really a choice of the very expensive and extensive buffet or a cheaper alternative is to go to the coffee bar near the lobby and they serve breakfast sandwiches, bagels etc For lunch by the pool at the dock is reasonably priced and very casual.

The staff and service were fantastic, all very very helpful and with some excellent recommendations for visitors.

All the time we were there the beach had red flags out and some pretty large surf. The surf was fun out i would not let anyone under 10 yrs old out in the water as it got pretty rough. The pool is very nice and the salt water pool is a nice change and really warm.

Overall i would highly recommend staying at the Grand Hyatt.
